Urgent Appeal for Haiti

In the aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake that devastated Haiti, individuals are being urged to donate to the Pan American Development Foundation. Actor Jimmy Jean-Louis Leads Campaign

Jimmy Jean-Louis, who plays the Haitian on NBC's hit series Heroes, is leading a public awareness campaign for PADF and the OAS to raise money for the survivors of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

"Haitians are desperate for help, and I am glad to collaborate with PADF on its national campaign to raise relief money," says Jimmy Jean-Louis, who will appear in television public service announcements, print ads and online. Jimmy is also the president of Hollywood Unites for Haiti.

 

PADF's Immediate Response

PADF has a disaster expert team in Port-au-Prince and is sending additional experts from the Dominican Republic to assist in the relief efforts. PADF is also coordinating with other Inter-American organizations to ensure a better response. PADF is shipping the urgently needed supplies, including the following items:

  • Shelter kits with tents, tarps, water purification tables and more
  • Emergency relief supplies
  • Food
  • Medical supplies
  • Family tool kits, including shovels
  • Telecommunications equipment

PADF has issued an appeal to companies, governments and individuals for $10 million to support the relief efforts.
