PADF Delivers Relief Aid to Flood-affected Communities in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala

The Pan American Development Foundation is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Jova as it moves across Mexico. Jova made landfall early Wednesday as a Category 2 Hurricane on Mexico's Pacific coast, killing at least five people in mudslides and injuring six. While Jova ravaged the coast, a tropical depression in the southeast prompted thousands of evacuations in Mexico, as well as flooding and mudslides that have killed 18 in Central America. In Guatemala the tropical depression unleashed steady rains that contributed to 13 deaths.Read more.



PADF Prepared to Respond as Hurricane Irene Moves Toward Northern Haiti and the Dominican Republic

With Hurricane Irene already projected as a major hurricane by Thursday and currently threatening the north coast of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is prepared to respond to this year�s first Atlantic hurricane.

Following heavy flooding in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Irene is now tracking toward Haiti and the Dominican Republic and could strengthen further as it follows a west-northwest projected path toward the Bahamas. Forecasters say Irene could become a major Category 3 hurricane with winds of up to 115 mph (184 km/h) in the next 72 hours. Already, maximum sustained winds have been recorded at 80 mph (130 km/h) with gusts up to 100 mph (160 km/h) prompting the U.S. National Hurricane Center to issue a hurricane warning for the northern coast of the Dominican Republic and a hurricane watch for the north coast of Haiti.

PADF Responds as Tropical Storm Emily Makes Landfall in Haiti

As Tropical Storm Emily moves into Haiti, PADF is requesting urgent support in anticipation of the storm�s impact.

Tropical Storm Emily reached Haiti on Thursday, sustaining 40 mile per hour winds and heavy rain, prompting the Haitian government to urge residents to seek safe shelter. The National Hurricane Center has predicted torrential rains totaling up to 20 inches. The storm could force Haitians to endure hours of flash floods, mudslides, and consistent wind.Read more.


Safe homes, sustainable employment are PADF's priorities in Haiti this year

As Haiti marks the one-year anniversary of the devastating earthquake, the Pan American Development Foundation is placing emphasis on moving Haitians out of displacement camps and generating sustainable jobs.
